 2009 NRHA DERBY – OPEN GO ROUND ENDS

Oklahoma City, OK – June 25, 2009 – The 2009 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby held the second section of Open go on Thursday, June 25 at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City, Okla. Hollywoodtinseltown (Hollywood Dun It x Miss Tinseltown) and Marco Ricotta scored a 227 for owner David Silva, Sr. early in the day to lead both the Level 4 Open and Level 3 Intermediate Open divisions. The 227 matched RC Fancy Step (Wimpys Little Step x Sonita Wilson) and Shawn Flarida’s high score of 227 earned yesterday. By the end of the go, Level 4 Open division competitors needed a score of 220 to make it back to Saturday’s finals.

2009 NRHA DERBY – OPEN GO ROUND BEGINS

Oklahoma City, OK – June 25, 2009 – The go round, first section of the 2009 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Open Derby witnessed frequent leader changes throughout the day after the first horse in the draw, Top Gun Tonite and Matt Mills, set the pace with a 221. But by the end of the section, and only four horses from the bottom of the section’s draw, RC Fancy Step and Shawn Flarida marked a 227 to earn the high score of the day. In addition to the NRHA Open Derby section, the show also hosted nearly a dozen ancillary classes at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Reggio Emilia, 18 May 2009 – Not only were the numbers, as far as entries, high for the 2009 NRHA approved Italian Reining Horse Association Derby .. so was the level of competition!
Once the action got going on Saturday evening, those reining fans that had made their way to the Reggio Emilia State Fair, knew that they were assisting one of the most exciting competitions ever held in Europe.
After NRHA European Futurity Limited Open Champions, Grisha Ludwig and Whizoom (Topsail Whiz x Dunit The Hard Way) had posted the highest score yet, a 221.5, half way through the competition, one of Italy’s most talented young non pro reiners burst in the arena to run NRHA pattern n.9: Stefano Angelucci. Riding his AB Captain Badger (Frozen Sailor x Pap Lil Sol), a five-year-old stallion bred by the Angelucci family, Stefano posted a score of 228.

Reggio Emilia, 16 May 2009 - On Friday night, the 2009 NRHA approved Italian Reining Horse Association Non Pro finals took place and fifty finalists fought for the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro and Limited Non Pro derby titles.
In the Euro20,000 added Non Pro division of the Derby, it truly was a battle for the crown! Once the finals were over, Rocco Toscani riding OT Taris Playdude, owned by Appaloosa Srl, and Cira Baeck riding Gumpy Grumpy BB, owned by Eifel Gold Ranch, had scored a 217. Neither of the two young riders for one second thought that the co-championship could be an option, so run-off it was. The first to go was NRHA Non Pro World Champion, Baeck, riding her five-year-old stallion by Little Gump and out of Hollywood Balloues. The pair posted a score of 218.5.

2009 NRHA approved Euro150,000 added IRHA Derby
Reggio Emilia, 15 May 2009 – In the field of Open riders that counted 261 entries, Rudi Kronsteiner riding Shine On Ruff for owner Ingrid Vermieren, took the lead once the first go round of the competition was over. Aboard the five-year-old stallion by Lil Ruf Peppy and out of Spark N Pretty, the Austrian rider posted a score of 224,5.
A point behind Rudi, Italian Christian Dalla Pozza riding Rs Ramses Olena (Spat Olena x Docs Jabalena) owned by Fabrizio Bevilacqua, marked the second highest score of the Open Derby division.
In the Intermediate Open division, Alessandro Frassà scored a 221 for the lead riding Quiet Whiz (Topsail Whiz x Quiet Little Chic), owned by Maurizio Ambrosini. The Limited Open division saw Stefano Ferri win the go-round with a score of 217,5 aboard Rickie Cody Pine 023 (Ricochet Rooster x Jackie Cody Pine) for owner Manuel Bonzano.

Historic events keep taking place at the 2008 NRHA Futurity & Adequan North American Affiliate Championship Show, and tonight was no different. NRHA Professional, Shawn Flarida, unofficially became NRHA’s first Three Million Dollar Rider, and Wimpys Little Step unofficially became an NRHA Million Dollar Sire.

NRHA European Futurity Postponed

Oklahoma City, OK – November 21, 2008, ... Earlier this year, the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) announced the development of the very first NRHA European Futurity in response to the International explosion in the Reining arena. Due to an unforeseen scheduling and facility conflict, the inaugural event has been postponed from March 2009 until 2010. Event organizers and NRHA Staff will meet during the 2008 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Championship Show to discuss rescheduling options for 2010.
The NRHA European Futurity will be "Open to the World" and will showcase four-year-old reining horses and riders competing for close to half a million dollars in prize money. It will host a full slate of Open and Non Pro competition. The show will be NRHA-approved and run under NRHA rules. Additional information including new dates, location, entry information and more will be posted on www.NRHA.com as soon as it is available.

It is our intention to create a world-class competition providing exhibitors and spectators with a memorable and enjoyable event.  Sven Buerig becomes SBH Futurity Champion Non Pro

The winner of the NRHA Breeders Futurity SBH Non Pro Final was Sven Buerig (GER) astride his La Mia Einstein. After placing 6th in the go round, the two risked everything in the final and scored a 215 after a beautiful ride with fast spins and circles and great stops. The mare is by Great Resolve (‚Einstein’) out of Mia Lena Jac and was bred by Frederic Tremblay.
Two competitors tied for second place: Claudio Risso (ITA) astride his mare RS Linkwood Jac (by McJac Flash) and Piet Mesdagh (BEL) astride ND Smart Pleasedunit (by Chic Please) scoring a 214.5. Birgit Wenninger and her Twist Please (Chic Please x JP Geena Twist) placed fourth.
