Germany announced its team for the first FEI World Reining Championship at Manerbio on September 11 to 14, 2008. The team consists of Sylvia Rzepka and Doctor Zip Nic, Emanuel Ernst and Legends Diamond Doc, Daniel Klein and Dealin Gin and Oliver Stein with Smart Little Lenic. Nina Lill and Lena Cielo Jewel will be alternate for the Championship. NRHA Germany Vice President Paul Kratschmer will be Chef d’Equipe of the German team.

NRHA EUROPEAN FUTURITY CONDITIONS AVAILABLE [August 15, 2008 - h.3:8 AM]
Oklahoma City, OK – August 14, 2008 – Earlier this year, the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) announced the development of the very first NRHA European Futurity to be held in 2009. The international explosion in the number of approved shows and members set the stage for the addition of this historic event. Conditions for the futurity were approved last weekend by the NRHA Board of Directors. The conditions are available on www.nrha.com.
The NRHA European Futurity is “Open to the World,” and is scheduled to be held March 9-14, 2009, in Manerbio, Italy. The event showcases four-year-old reining horses and riders competing for close to half a million dollars in prize money. The show is NRHA-approved and run under NRHA rules.

There were few dry eyes when Bill Freeman led Smart Little Lena into the spotlight of a darkened Watt Arena during the 2002 NCHA Futurity, 20 years after the two had won cutting’s premier event.
When Freeman turned Smart Little Lena loose, the great stallion gazed up, as if to acknowledge the standing room-only crowd. Then he began to slowly trot and finally, as people began to cheer, broke into a graceful lope around the arena. Several minutes later - it might have been 2 1/2 - Smart Little Lena slowed his pace and came to a stop next to Freeman.

On Tuesday 21 July, Mc Jac Flash died in his paddock at the Roberta’s Stables in Villafalletto, Italy. “I saw him in his paddock at 1 pm and half an hour later, following a heart attack, he passed away”, says owner Claudio Risso. “It’s hard to accept, but if he had to go, that was the best way”.
Without a doubt MC Jac Flash to date is Europe's and the Italian Reining Horse Association’s leading sire. With offspring having won well over Euro 500.000,00 the great sire has produced multiple European Futurity, Derby and Maturity Champions as well as winners of a great number of NRHA approved Bronze Trophy competitions.

Swiss Slide 2008 ends with new success of Europe’s Leading Money Earner: Rudi Kronsteiner and Star Spangled Whiz win Lawson Bronze Trophy [July 11, 2008 - h.11:55 PM]
Rudi Kronsteiner did it again: astride Star Spangled Whiz the Austrian who trains in Germany since 1997 won the $ 30, 000 NRHA Lawson Bronze Trophy during the Swiss Slide at Corinna Schumacher’s facility in Givrins, Switzerland.
Star Spangled Whiz was one of altogether three horses Kronsteiner rode into the final and was second best after the go round. In the final, the flashy stallion scored a 230 winning the class. Shauna Larcombe and RS Fondadores Olena placed second scoring a 229.5.

NRHA Derby sees significant increases [July 12, 2008 - h.12:0 PM]
Oklahoma City, OK – July 9, 2008 – The 2008 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby took center stage in Oklahoma City, OK June 23-28 at Oklahoma State Fair Park. After the entries were completed and purses were tallied, the show exceeded last year’s number in several categories including a solid 4% increase in total purse and whopping 31% increase in the Non Pro division purse.
